Hungary Guest Investor Residence Permit

A ten-year EU residence permit, zero physical presence, immediate Schengen access.

Hungary’s Guest Investor Residence Permit, introduced in 2024, has quickly become one of Europe’s most practical options: a ten-year permit (renewable for a further ten), no physical-presence requirement, and Schengen travel rights from the outset. The direct real-estate route was withdrawn in 2025, leaving two clean options.

Qualifying routes (indicative, 2026).

  • Accredited real-estate fund — from €250,000 in a government-approved fund.
  • University donation — from €1,000,000 to a higher-education institution.

Residence requirement. None.

The strategic case. For clients who want a long, low-maintenance EU residence permit with immediate Schengen access and no obligation to live in the country, Hungary is among the most efficient routes available.
